What’s the Easiest Flower to Grow?”

IF ITALIAN ANEMONES HAD A MANTRA, IT MIGHT BE SOMETHING LIKE THIS:

Stick me in the dirt and forget about me, and I’ll love you forever.

Sounds too good to be true? I thought so. Until I tried them and, lawd have mercy, I fell in love.

If you’ve followed me for a while, you know that I’m constantly on the hunt for flowers that show up and love me even when I’ve forgotten or neglected them.

Because… life.

Let me tell you, out of my entire line up of non-fussy, non-judgmental, never-holds-a-grudge fancy fleurs, these anemones are the absolute easiest to grow!

For my friends with a “black thumb,” these are for you (I mean, they’re also for me. And for my neighbors, and for anyone else that wants to grow some gorgeous.) I’m just saying for those of you who say, “I seriously can’t grow anything.” ...these anemones beg to differ.

There’s no fine print. You can go ahead and pass go. Anemones are your get out of jail free card.

And since you’re already letting me tell you things, I’ll mention that these are cut and come again flowers. Meaning the more blooms you cut and sit next to your kitchen sink or on your bathroom counter, the more blooms they’ll make for you. They’re basically supply and demand.

One more thing… have you seen them up close?

Their shimmer!

It’s like a luxury, spring-infused, jewel-toned mood board and Martha Stewart’s premium line of fine glitter went on an all expenses paid creative retreat in the Bahamas and they brought home...this flower.

OK, enough gushing.

One last thing to mention here, because people often get confused by this, is that there are two different kinds of anemones. Japanese and Italian. There’s a few differences between the two but the main one is that Italian anemones bloom in the spring. They hang out with daffodils and tulips. Japanese anemones (which are also gorgeous) bloom in the fall.
